The CD Apocalypse marks a milestone in Trondheim Barokk’s collaboration with the legendary baroque violinist and ensemble leader Sigiswald Kuijken. Kuijken conducted Trondheim Barokk in one the ensemble’s very first productions and has visited the orchestra on several occasions.
This recording of the two Bach cantatas, together with works by Buxtehude and Geist, bears the clear mark of Kuijken’s strongly audacious and innovating approaches to this repertoire, revealing a subtle clarity in Bach’s complex structures and a bright cheerfulness in the passionate scorings of the northern masters.
